It REALLY IS Sweet!

I was not aware that this was a lesbian romance when I started reading the book so this was a first for me in this genre. I jumped in with an open mind; determined to enjoy the book in the spirit of its intended audience. I was glad I did. The dialogue in How Sweet It Is is genuinely funny and sweet, the characters are well-written. There are grammatical errors, which distracted me from the story at times. I can’t help it – it’s just a peeve for me that I can’t overlook. I’m hoping the final publication will be cleaned up.

Molly O’Brien is a sweetheart. Everyone in the town of Applewood, Illinois, thinks so. After losing the love of her life four years prior in a plane crash, Molly thinks she’s ready to start dating once again. When Jordan Tuscana, younger sister of her lost love, returns to town, Molly finds herself interested in a way she isn’t prepared for.

It’s beautifully written. I couldn’t help but fall in love with the main characters Molly and Jordan. Both have to deal with the loss of Cassie in their own way. I really enjoyed how their relationship develops and how well written the realization and acceptance of the situation affects Molly and Jordan individually. The interaction between the two main characters was fun and engaging. I actually laughed out loud at some of their dialogue. I love a book that actually brings forth emotions. If I can laugh and cry while reading a book, it’s a win for me. I think both Molly and Jordan learn to be comfortable with the fact that they can build a relationship in spite of their shared loss.

I don’t think that this genre will become something I seek out, but I also won’t avoid it. It was a sweet story, and I enjoyed and recommend reading it.

A GENUINE AND WITTY ROMANCE

This is based on the ebook version purchased from the publisher today. As you can tell I really enjoyed it since I bought and read this book all in one day. I think it was one of the better lesbian romances I've read all year. I genuinely enjoyed the banter between the two leads. I felt the connection between them as friends and was rooting for them the whole way. Brayden did a good job of portraying the inner feelings and emotions of both leads; I felt emotionally connected to both characters. I'm embarrassed to say I teared up when Jordan truly felt that giving up what she wanted would be better for everyone else in her life. But, the book itself was not emotionally heavy. The author did a good job of balancing the heavier emotions with a lighthearted feel we get from the two leads interacting with each other and with the secondary characters.

This storyline could very easily have turned dark and melodramatic and thankfully the author understands how NOT to do that. Even during emotionally uncertain moments Brayden knows how to pull it back and make it real. I especially liked the part where Jordan breaks the tension by making a joke about Jane Austen and being at high tea. Very clever.

I think what I appreciated most about the book was how real the characters felt. Molly's need to please everyone and not wrecking the status quo; Jordan trying to let go of adolescent insecurities and attempting to move into adulthood as gracefully as possible; her parents inability to see her as an adult for most of the book but coming through for their kid when it counts most; the way the town pulls together to help one of it's own: they're all quirky and wonderful in their own way and I was a little sad to have come to the end of the book.

How sweet indeed!

This book will definitely cause the need for an insulin shot after reading it! Brayden's story takes you through a wide range of emotions, where you're dancing a happy dance one moment, wiping tears the next, and before you can get back to dancing, you're yelling at characters. But don't worry, you'll be smiling and dancing again before it ends.

The relationship between Molly and Jordan is taboo. While Brayden doesn't let you forget that, she writes about these two in a way that really makes you not care that the relationship should be "forbidden". Its easy to root for them getting together, and you'll feel their pain in them being separated. Anyone with "interesting" family dynamics can easily relate to this story.

Warning: This book will make you crave all sorts of delicious treats. Cinnamon Buns, Blueberry Muffins, and Molly Dollys...

About the Author
Dilip K. Chakrabarti is Professor of Indian Archaeology and Ancient History, Cambridge University. An eminent figure in South Asian Archaeology, he has undertaken extensive fieldwork in different parts of India, Bangladesh, and Iran. He has taught at several universities in India and abroad. Whilst at Delhi University, he established a departmental museum, and for some years edited the Bulletin of the Indian Society for Prehistoric and Quaternary Studies. He has published about twelve monographs, and has numerous contributions in refereed journals, books, and encyclopedias on South Asian prehistoric, protohistoric, and early historic archaeology.

A Jazzy Trip

William Claxton is one of the best loved photographers of the 20th century. He was known as a class act who managed to bring out the best in the people he photographed. At it's heart, "Jazz Life" is an extended magazine essay produced by two men who had a deep love and appreciation for jazz. The book itself is impressive. Beautifully printed, in a huge, and delightfully heavy coffee table style, the book could almost be used for a coffee table on it's own. The images? Simply magnificent. If you love jazz, and hate photography... although I can't believe there's anyone that could fit that description, you need this book. If you love photography and hate jazz, once again I'm doubtful there's anyone in this category, you need this book. If you have a love for both arts, then what are you waiting for? A true classic. A must have.

Great artwork and improved paper but the UK version is still slightly better for my use

The book in the video and in the photos are only of the US version of this book except photos where I show both books. In those cases, the UK version is at the top and the US version is at the bottom.

I purchased both the UK and the US version of this book. I reviewed the UK version on Amazon on April 23rd of this year. As I noted at that time, I really enjoy Kerby Rosanes artwork which includes an unusual look at design and I have a really fun time coloring all the little odds and ends that make up the full design. I found that I actually liked Imagimorphia even more than Animorphia – which was difficult to do as I so enjoyed his first book in this series. It still has a good number of animals in it but it expands beyond them into other design concepts as well.

So, the designs are great, as expected, but what about the publishing quality of the US published book? The UK version was published in exactly the same fashion as the UK version of Animorphia. I was dreading that might be the case with the US version as well. What actually arrived was a coloring book printed on a much heavier weight of paper than the US Animorphia book. It actually weighs slightly more than the UK version – either a slightly heavier paper or the slightly larger size of book – or a combination of both of these. The US version weighs in at 1.07 lbs. and the UK version weighs in at 1.03 lbs. The US version measures at 10 x 10 x 3/8 inches and the UK version is 9 7/8 x 9 7/8 x 3/8 inches.

That is good and a great improvement since the last book but there are some more subtle differences in the publishing that still makes me prefer the UK version. If I didn't have access to the UK version, I would have been okay with the US one but I still would have been a little bit unhappy with a couple of issues. The two most important of these are the binding and the texture of the paper.

The UK version has a sewn binding and the US is glue bound. The UK version has the design right into the binding and the US has a white strip (when you can get the book to fully open which is impossible for me on some of the pages.) Where this is most evident and least desirable is on two-page spread designs. Right in the middle of the design is a quarter inch strip of nothingness. I have no problem getting the pages to open on the UK version because they are sewn rather than glued. I did have to break the spine with a heavy crease, but I was able to get at all of the design without at white strip.

The texture of the paper is important for me as I use colored pencils for my work (due to the double-sided printing and the leak-through of markers.) The US version of the book is very smooth – almost slick. The UK version of the book has a slightly smooth but with enough tooth for colored pencils. My pencils had more of a “smeary” type of look with the US version.

Other small differences include color of paper and print. The UK is brighter white with darker print. The US is softer white with slightly lighter print. The covers are different in texture and color. The UK is matte black with glossy highlights on the designs and title. The US is a softer matte and there are no glossy highlights.

The designs are all the same though there is a slight switch up of pages in the title and bookplate pages between the two versions.

Here is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing my various coloring medium.

Had difficulty getting the book to open flat for coloring

Alcohol-based markers bleed through

Most water-based markers bleed through spotty (exception was the brush end of my Tombows which did not bleed through)

India ink pens left shadows on the back of the page.

Gel pens did not leak through the paper.

Coloring pencils do not do as well with this paper. The paper is extremely smooth and did not provide good tooth (or grip) for the color to adhere evenly. Both my wax and oil-based pencils provided a kind of smeary uneven color.

Beautifully Detailed...

"Imagimorphia" contains 77 full size coloring pages, 3 pages of "draw-your-own", 5 pages of introductory material, 3 pages of hidden objects, and an 8 page index in the back. It measures 10 inches square and is glue bound into a colorable, matte finish cover. Featuring a variety of intricate black and white line drawn images, this book is appropriate for adult colorists on all skill levels.

Paper:
The paper in this book is bright white and fairly heavy(think scrapbooking weight). All pages are double sided and non-perforated. Dry mediums/gel pens should be okay to use, but most markers will bleed through. As always, be sure to place several sheets of blotter paper under your current picture to prevent any color transfer or pencil indentations.

Artwork:
As with the author's other book, "Imagimorphia" focuses on intricate, fantasy inspired artwork. Inside you'll see animals, birds, insects, steampunk themes, skulls, ships, fish, and more. There are approx. 24 double page spreads that do merge into the binding. Most of them are lined up well, but there were a few that were very crooked. The rest of the images are contained to a single page and end before reaching the edges. Print quality is very high and the detail level is consistent throughout. Picture completion time should range from 6-15 hours(may be slightly different for each individual). Overall, this is a nicely done book that doesn't disappoint. It would be best suited for chalk/pencil colorists who enjoy coloring extremely detailed imagery.

This is one of my fav books! I have tons of fun with it! The book itself is very soft and easy to bend open to color the cross pages. I have no trouble using any kinds of coloring pencils! the design is so incredible, so much energy and so many little hidden creatures for you to discover! It's a book for all age and all gender!

About the Author

John Foster is Director of the Museum of Moab in Moab, Utah. Lots of fossils and a little bit of background

John Foster knows a lot about Cambrian fossils and wants to tell us about all of them, or as many as he can cram into this book. It's often simply too much. These trilobites were found here and those trilobites were found there. Each time with a short description, e.g. short spines, no facial sutures, etc.
It's not that I not interested in these fossils, otherwise I would not have bought a book titled 'Cambrian Ocean World'. And I definitely am interested in the predator Anomalocaris and, of course, the more recent very strange discoveries such as Banffia, Vetulicolia and Diania cactiformis (the walking cactus). These fascinate me. But I do wish Foster would explain more about the background. How the world was changing and why therefore were the animals. He does a bit of this right towards the end of the book but it requires a lot of stamina to get there.
There are a lot of pictures in this book, most of them small and in black and white. I didn't always find them very helpful. The color plates - very nice ones too - have all been put together in the middle of the book. So you have to keep flicking through the pages to follow any references. This compares poorly to the many, large color photographs and impressive artwork in the book "The Cambrian Explosion". That book is worth getting just for the pictures alone, even if it is aimed at an university undergraduates.
That said, 'Cambrian Ocean World' isn't easy on the reader either. It assumes familiarity with many technical terms such as glabella, pygidium or occipital ring, It's not all like that. Foster has visited many, perhaps all, of the places described and offers a vivid description of the scenery, sometimes including the odd anecdote.

I have mixed feelings about this book. A stronger focus on why things happen the way they do and fewer fossils lists would have been worth five stars.

Worth every penny of the cost! Having read Gould's Wonderful Life years ago, this was a reprise but much broader in scope and with newer findings/research. The mental image you develop of the Earth during those bygone eons is thrilling. Evolution is written big and wide, understandable and amazing. I will donate it to my local high school library. Ever since reading Stephen J. Gould's "Wonderful Life" I have been fascinated by the lifeforms of the Cambrian "Explosion." The book is very detailed & scientific (not for kids). I skimmed the book to start with, & am now reading it in detail. Excellent.

PreSchool-Grade 1-The bunnies that introduced wee ones to the alphabet, counting, and time are back in this merry little travelogue. The family sets off for a vacation filled with just about every mode of transportation imaginable, including a car, train, ferry, tractor, and, finally, an airplane ride home. The rhyming text allows children the chance to shout out the missing last word before the turn of the page: "Bunnies pedal over the hills,/Chasing, racing, taking spills,/Jumping ditches, getting stuck./Now, bunnies, hop into the-." Each colorful spread is dominated by a particular conveyance and hides a visual hint on how the creatures will get to their next destination. For the story's sake, these animals have handlike paws. The closing spread fails to show how the bunnies get from the airport to their home, an omission that stops the fun of the visual game. Still, the book is amusing, and children will enjoy guessing the next words and looking for the clues.

PreS-Gr. 2. And go, they do! A family of five bunnies takes twelve different modes of transportation on a cross-country vacation. On each spread a visual clue foretells the next kind of travel, and the last word of the rhyming text is left off, to be revealed on following page. The anticipation and the guessing game work together to forestall questions about the time frame: How long are the bunnies gone? The question is subtly dealt with when the family returns home to find green vines climbing the walls of their home: the potted plant depicted on the opening pages has apparently been growing for some time. As in the three previous Bunnies books by this team, the detailed illustrations are lively and colorful. Preschoolers may need some help understanding the ending, but most kids will quickly catch on to the gimmick and scrutinize the picture scenes for hints about the mode of transportation the bunnies will choose--from train to tractor, from boat to balloon. An entertaining story and a fun approach to language development. Julie Cummins

Love this book!

I have a ton of books for my young kids, but this is really one of my favorites. The pictures are just delightful -- fun for the kids to look at and for me (I find something new in there every time I read it). And the words are cute and talk about different forms of transportation.

This particular copy that I ordered was in great condition and I happily gave it as a gift.

Love this Bunny series.

My 2-year old loves these books. There is enough detail in the illustrations that it keeps her attention for a long time.
Because this one rhymes, she also was able to remember the story more and recite some of the phrases from memory.

Bunnies are a big hit with our shorties

This book has been a perennial favorite of my nephews and niece for many years. This is not the most literary, hip book that I've given them, but the one that they ask me to read the most. I think the simple story works well with the toddler set, and the bunnies are cuties.
