Best Tung book currently available

This book has made the rounds in my Acupuncture office and every single person, even non-Tung style practitioners, have fallen in love with it. The explanations are concise and illuminating; however, it's the appendix that make this worth its weight in gold. This is the first book I've found which is specifically designed for quick look-ups in the reference section for all types of western medical AND TCM pattern conditions. You don't have to hunt and peck through text to find what point may treat what conditions; it's clearly laid out. Each point has a discussion as to why it works and there are even "special recommendations" which include references to how other well-known practitioners (Miriam Lee, Susan Johnson, Young, etc) use the points in their own practices.

I bought this as a gift for my grandson who is turning 11 and likes to cook. He also likes the civil war era. Thought it would be mostly recipes with tidbits about the civil war. Wrong! Lots of interesting things in there as well as recipes. Hoping he makes me something! :-)

This is the fourth of E. Zeidler's amazing 5 volume set (I,IIa,IIb,III,IV) on nonlinear functional analysis and it's applications. I am a real fan of these books and have used this particular volume to understand various fine points of variational theory. For example, I very much liked chapter 48 on generalized Lagrange multipliers (Dubovickii-Miljutin theory).

Superb Collection of Arrangements

I've been looking around for a great collection of Christmas songs in solo fingerstyle, and so far this one is my favorite. It is an extensive collection of all the standards, and the arrangements are very appealing despite being relatively easy. A few observations that set this collection apart:

1) It includes a CD. This lets you hear the arrangement before you start trying to learn it. I don't know why so many fingerstyle songbooks omit this, but for me, it's a must.
2) The songs are easy enough to learn and memorize relatively quickly. These aren't virtuoso pieces, but then I really don't have the desire to work up a virtuoso piece just for Christmas... after all, I won't play it after the 25th. If you want virtuoso pieces, check out Mark Hanson or Craig Dobbins' offerings.
3) All songs are in standard tuning (except O Christmas Tree, which is in Drop-D tuning). Very convenient!
4) 22 songs plus CD for $9.99??? What a bargain!
5) While the arrangements are described as "easy", that doesn't mean they're not challenging. Several approaches to harmonization are presented (pinches, rolls, arpeggios, etc.), so you'll learn some things along the way too.

Frankly, this book should be the standard for beginning to intermediate fingerstyle guitarists. You won't be disappointed.

Poorly interpreted versions.

I ordered this book from Amazon after checking an earlier version out from the library. The arrangements in this version were WAY OFF from what I had seen in the earlier version. I later found that earlier version at a large local book retailer. It is the same book, piece for piece, same publisher and everything, but the arrangements in the earlier version make a beginner like me sound like a strong intermediate. Playing from this version, nothing even sounds close. My advise, look for a used copy of the earlier version.

A good standard selection with simple arrangements for preparing a repertoire for the folks on Christmas eve around the tree. I can get these tunes memorized with plenty of time to spare before 12/24.

An awesome collection of prophetic activations

As the director of a school of supernatural ministry I was looking for a book of prophetic activations to use with my classes. This fits the bill admirably. For those who are not familiar with "activation exercises" they are activities that are usually done in the safe environment of the classroom that focus on equipping the student with supernatural tools through practice.

Some of these activations are perfect for an individual to use by himself or herself. I have assigned some as "homework": Creative Prophetic Writing, Family Ties, Phone-a-Friend Prophecy, Prophetic Name Badges, and Social Networks and Words of Knowledge.

Most are more suitable for use in the classroom, or among a group of friends that want to activate the gifts of Word of Knowledge and Prophecy. Some of those that I have used and highly recommend are: Atmospheric Gift, Favorite Bible Character, How God Touched Me, Internal Triggers, No Christianese Please, Popcorn Prophecy, Prophetic Gift Exchange, Psalm 23 Prophecy, Secret Friend Prophetic Letter, Table of Triggers, Thirty-Second Drill, and White Elephant Prophetic Gift Exchange.

With sixty-one activations to choose from, you are surely going to find some that are just right for you.

Clear and Powerful

This is a workbook. It is designed for people who want to step into the Gift of Prophecy but don't know how. Dan's clear writing directs the reader to numerous different ways that God can trigger a prophetic word so that the 'average christian' can speak the heart of God into someone else's life.
It is very clearly written and the results are powerful in action. Deeply meaningful. Life changing.

This is arguably one of the most practical and clearly written workbooks on the topic that I have ever seen. Dan McCollam has taken a very practical and understandable approach to teaching a subject something that can be very confusing and intimidating. I especially appreciated the activations written into each section.
